Supreme Court Hears Religious Challenge to Contraceptive Coverage Mandate

On March 25, 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in two related cases challenging the ACA's contraceptive coverage mandate. In these cases, for-profit businesses argue that they should be exempt from the contraceptive coverage mandate based on their religious beliefs. White House Extends Transition Policy for Canceled Health Plans

In late 2013, the White House announced a transition policy for 2014 that allows health insurance issuers to continue individual and small group policies that do not satisfy specified ACA market reforms, if permitted by their states. On March 5, 2014, HHS extended the transition policy for two years to policy years beginning on or before Oct. 1, 2016. This HCR Compliance Bulletin summarizes the transition policy extension.
