New Notice Requirements for CHIPRA
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and Health and Human Services (HHS) has developed a new model notice that employers must use to inform employees of potential opportunities available for group health plan premium assistance under state Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Starting May 1, 2010 this notice must be provided annually to all employees. Failure to do so may result in the DOL assessing a civil penalty of $100 per employee per day against the employer.
